yeah apparently the original writer/director of the movie wanted him to be in the desert with some crazy cat and a radioactive rabbit instead of some random chick, but Disney kicked him off the project when he refused to change it to match what they were suggesting.

Afterwards they stripped the title, gutted the script and cut the development time down by a few years.
